a time when failure was necessary for growth

 A time when failure was necessary for growth was when I was learning how to play trombone. You have to be willing to play weird sounding stuff and to have your mistakes be heard or else you can't get better. If you play too quietly you'll grow bad habits, plus your teacher won't be able to hear you and give you advice. If you don't come in confidently then you'll always miss that first note and you won't sound good. If you don't try to learn how to read music then you won't learn either. 

I wasn't here today in class. It was nice writing while listening to other orchestras perform though.

 The perfect day with someone I care about would start with getting lunch. Then afterwards we'd spend some quality time together. Maybe we'd watch a movie, or bake cookies. We could go out and do something exciting but I'd rather stay in the comfort of my own home. To end the day we'd have a nice dinner, preferably something cooked at home. Today in class we finished our one-pager assignments. I'm pretty happy with how mine turned out, it looks pretty accurate to the layout that I had in mind. I did see another student draw a phoenix on their assignment though, and I kinda regret choosing the sun because the phoenix is way cooler.

gender roles

 Today in class we discussed gender roles. It was interesting to hear everyone's views on gender, and I think that was the most vocal discussion our class has had. I liked today's lesson because I'm more aware of gender roles than I am of my family history or my ethnic culture. Especially because I am a more masculine presenting woman who is attracted to other women. Nothing out of the ordinary happened today, but for lunch we were served cheese rippers which are my favorite!
