 Today in class we read the poem The Red Wheelbarrow by William Carlos William. I was surprised by how short and simple this poem was when I first saw it, as we usually cover longer poems. I liked this one a lot though, it was simple but made its point. I also think shorter poems are more impactful, or at least I just remember them more. I did fairly well at my audition yesterday, I was nervous but handled it better than I typically do. My first jazz band audition I cried and had to reschedule. 

 Today in class we reviewed the poem Incident. It was interesting seeing everyone’s offensive words. I personally found it hard to think of something, because I’m not easily offended and I use offensive words jokingly often with my friends. I like going over poems, because you can interpret it several ways. Today is my jazz band audition, wish me luck!

 It is the Monday after break today. I had a good break, it was very refreshing. I didn't do much but I got this new game which I played with friends. The marching band played at the football game, which wasn't the best game if I'm being honest. Yesterday the band also played at a Halloween parade though, and that was fun. I went as a lion, and it was really warm.

 

 Today in class we took a test on fences and continued to work on our projects. I am almost done with my project, and have 4 songs left to do. I'm surprised how long it's taking me to find songs, but I don't mind because I find it fun. I also went to the doctor today for my yearly checkup, and I got cookies for lunch.

 Today in class we worked on making our presentations for fences. I chose the soundtrack option, and although I enjoy dissecting songs it is still quite time consuming. I finished only two songs today! Today we have band practice, but I hope we will do parade practice for our upcoming parade.

 Today in class we presented our characterization posters and read more of Fences. Most of the book so far has been getting us to know the characters and explaining the background, and now with Troy admitting to cheating we finally have something big and new happening. I am curious to see how the rest of the story will play out. I have been very sore all day, going to marching band practice after a long concert really messed up my back and leg.

Today in class we worked on making posters of characters from the book fences. My group did Lyons. I thought it was fun that my group members are all in band, and Lyons is also a musician. I enjoyed making the poster, I prefer them over powerpoints. I had a good day so far, despite also being really tired. I went to a punk rock concert last night, so I did not get a lot of sleep.
